St Andrew’s Children’s Society is a voluntary adoption agency based in Edinburgh and operating within a 60 mile radius of Scotland’s capital city.

The Society was established in 1922 to promote the welfare and care of Catholic children and their families.

This work continues today but we have also extended our work in order to provide permanent and temporary homes through Fostering and Adoption, for children from all sections of society irrespective of their religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Maureen became involved with the Society in 1967 when she adopted the first of her 5 children from us. She has worked tirelessly in a voluntary capacity for the Society ever since becoming Chairperson in 1992. Her enthusiasm and commitment to the needs of vulnerable children in our community is a great example to all who come in to contact with her.

Her commitment to the work of the Society and her enormous contribution to the adoption scene in Scotland generally was rewarded in 2007 when she received an MBE from the Queen.
