Poem by an adoptive grandmother | |||||||||
| ADOPTION There are very many children put upon this earth Seeking comfort and compassion from the moment of their birth God has sent these children down from up above Looking for a family who will nurture them with love We may not know the reasons or indeed the scope Why their birth families simply cannot cope Though ordinary people, these new parents must give So much consideration to the kind of lives they live These children should hear love and respect all around No shouting or fighting or abuse must abound As these children must be raised with happiness and smiles For God has only loaned them out for a little while These children are a gift from God and need tender love and care They need very special parents and a loving home where They will be safe and happy and need not be afraid Where monsters cannot reach them and fill them up with dread These parents must be patient and exceptionally brave And willingly give these children all the attention they crave So if you happen to be one of the chosen few God has hand picked to care for one or two Remember to show kindness and support to your partner Share with them the trials, sorrows and laughter So that eventually when the children are gone You will still be together, still going strong For even when these children, adults have become They like to know that, at home, both Dad and Mum Contentedly, companionably, together are living There at the end of the phone for advice giving So carefully guide these children’s formation With your help they’ll get it right for the next generation Ann 2005 | ||||||||
