  Foster family interview

This story from one of our families in the Borders was featured in the Berwickshire News.

Robert and Rachel Cunningham had always wanted a large family. However, by the time they had reached their late thirties and had relocated to the Borders from Edinburgh, the couple realised that children of their own just weren’t on the agenda. They had the big house in the country, a healthy joint income, lots of friends and four lively dogs - but they knew something was missing.

The Cunninghams contacted an independent adoption assessor who told them about four siblings who were in the care of an English local authority. Says Robert: “We only had access to a photograph and outline information about the children, but there was something in their eyes which told us they were the ones for us.” The two boys and two girls aged from five to ten years had been living with separate foster carers for two years as no one seemed to want to take on four children permanently.
