| | | School & Education Issues
Perth: Saturday 20th June 200
Due to a generous grant from Children in Need, Adoption UK will be holding our School & Education Issues workshop at less than half price per participant.
A one-day workshop for adoptive parents & foster carers.
This workshop examines issues that may arise for adoptive parents, foster carers and schools as a result of the effects of separation, loss and trauma on the child. Participants will look at ways in which social and emotional difficulties may be the underlying causes of behavioural problems, and may in turn lead to learning difficulties. The workshop recognises how legislation for Special Educational Need can be used to empower parents and carers in working with schools, and to ensure that appropriate provision is made.
Method of delivery:
This workshop is participative and interactive. There is a balance of theory, information and exercises. It provides participants with the opportunity to consider how to use their learning to support children better within the school setting.
Workshop objectives:
· To appreciate how our own experience might affect the way we support children in school.
· To examine some of the possible causes of behavioural problems and school-related difficulties.
· To consider how behavioural difficulties impact on relationships, teaching and learning in the classroom.
· To develop effective strategies for supporting the child in school.
Number of participants: Maximum of 16.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS OPEN TO ALL ADOPTIVE / FOSTER PARENTS, NOT JUST ADOPTION UK MEMBERS!!
WORKSHOP FEE
Adoption UK Members: £40.25 (inc. VAT)
Non Adoption UK Members: £51.75 (inc. VAT)
All prices are per person and include; refreshments, light lunch and workshop materials. This workshop is delivered by accredited Adoption UK trainers, all of whom are adoptive parents.
